tert-Butylamine (tBA) (CAS: 75-64-9) is a flammable liquid with ammonia smell. It is one of the four isomeric amines of butane, the others being n-Butylamine, sec-Butylamine and Isobutylamine.
tert-Butylamine is a tertiary amine that is used as an intermediate used in the production of: pharmaceuticals, crop protection agents, rubber chemicals, product for chemical synthesis.
tert-Butylamine is used in the rubber industry to make rubber accelerators, and in the pharmaceutical industry to make Rifampin. In the pesticide industry, tert-Butylamine is used to make insecticides and fungicides. In the dye industry, tert-Butylamine is used to make dye colorants. In the organic industry, tert-Butylamine is used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. tert-Butylamine is also used as a chemical reagent in analytical chemistry.
Skin irritant. Flammable, dangerous fire risk.
Inhalation causes irritation of nose, mouth, and lungs. Ingestion causes irritation of mouth and stomach. Contact with liquid causes severe irritation of eyes and moderate irritation of skin.
